I’ve been on mountains like this. No, thank God, I have never literally been on a mountain during an earthquake! But I’ve climbed the wrong mountain. I’ve made things that shouldn’t be mountains into mountains that I then clung to until they slipped into the sea, leaving me soaking wet and looking for a life raft.  

But the kind of community that we don’t necessarily consent to. The kind of community that includes my grumpy neighbor who blocked my friend in when she parked in front of his house. The kind of community that includes the overworked, underpaid administrators at our local public school.

This year, I have been drawn back to the “one anothers” in the Bible and, finding myself a little short, am thinking this may be a place to start. But let me back up.

Before I started serving women, I was serving people with disabilities.
